Activity description
Enjoy a 4x4 vehicle ride led by expert local guides through the public areas of the
Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, with the aim of observing the Iberian lynx.
The Iberian lynx population center in the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park currently has around 170 Iberian lynx specimens, making it one of the best places to observe them in the world.
During the tour, your guide will explain the characteristics of their habitat, as well as aspects of their biology and behavior, and you will follow specific routes and wait at common observation sites.
The tours are conducted by vehicle at very low speeds, and while waiting, we use optical equipment (binoculars and a long-range telescope) to observe wildlife.
You'll also be able to learn about some of the conservation efforts that have been carried out in the area to recover populations of this endangered species.
The activity takes place in the public areas of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and its surroundings, in the province of Jaén. The itinerary and waiting areas will depend on the latest sightings and the species you wish to observe during the day.
During the tour, it is also possible to observe a multitude of species of mammals and birds, as well as reptiles and amphibians depending on the time of year.
In addition, we will try to show you any footprints, tracks, or areas we have previously located that indicate the presence of the Iberian lynx.
Before your visit, you can let us know which species you'd like to see, and we'll try to tailor a itinerary to give you the chance to see or photograph them.
Let your guide recommend you; the experience and information you gain about sightings each day will make the activity much more successful.
