Activity description

Enjoy a guided 4x4 tour through the public areas of the

Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, with the aim of observing the Iberian lynx.

The Iberian lynx population center in the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park currently has around 180 Iberian lynx specimens, making it one of the best places in the world to observe them.

During the tour, your guide will explain the characteristics of its habitat, as well as aspects of its biology and behavior, and you will follow specific routes and wait in common observation places.

The tours are conducted by vehicle at very low speed, and during the waiting we use optical equipment (binoculars and long-range telescope) to observe wildlife.

You will also be able to learn about some of the conservation actions that have been carried out in the area to recover the populations of this threatened species.

The activity takes place in the public areas of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and its surroundings, in the province of Jaén, and the itinerary and the places to wait will depend on the latest sightings and the species you wish to observe during the day.

We offer the possibility of developing part of the activity in the Guarrizas River Valley, in an exclusive environment that is especially interesting for observing the Iberian lynx and other species of Iberian fauna.

During the tour, it is also possible to observe many species of mammals and birds mainly, and also reptiles or amphibians depending on the time of year.

In addition, we will try to show you footprints, tracks or areas that we have previously located and that indicate the presence of the Iberian lynx.

Before your visit, you can tell us which species you would like to see and we will try to design a tailor-made itinerary to give you the opportunity to see or photograph them.

Let yourself be guided by your guide; the experience and information obtained about sightings each day will make the activity a much more successful experience.
