Activity description

Enjoy a 4x4 safari-style excursion led by expert local guides through the public areas of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and its surroundings, with the goal of observing and photographing the rutting of the deer and the croaking of the fallow deer.

During the tour, your guide will explain the characteristics of their habitat, as well as aspects of their biology and behavior. You'll follow specific routes and wait at common observation sites with binoculars and a telescope, and you'll also be able to take photographs of the animals you see along the way.

The activity takes place in the public areas of the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park and its surroundings, in the province of Jaén. The itinerary and waiting areas will depend on the latest sightings and other species you wish to observe during the day.

The Sierra de Andújar Natural Park is one of the best places in Spain for observing and photographing the rut of deer, as the area boasts a long hunting tradition and numerous deer and fallow deer. The terrain and vegetation found here allow for good visibility, proximity, and easy access to the observation areas.

During the tour, it's also possible to observe other species of mammals and birds, and with a bit of luck, you might even see an Iberian lynx, a Spanish imperial eagle, or a black vulture.

To conclude the activity, we'll enjoy a picnic of local products (cold cuts, artisan cheese, wine, etc.) at sunset, and we'll be able to enjoy the stunning night sky while listening to the bellowing of deer.

Let your guide recommend you; the experience and information you gain about sightings each day will make your visit much more successful.
